WB primary TET exam minimum marks for pass

Earlier, some media reports had stated that the exam is likely to be conducted in December 2020. However, the notification for West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test is still awaited. It may be noted that WBTET exam was last conducted in 2017. Although the authorities had released WBTET 2018 notification and application form, the exam was not conducted.

What is WB TET?

West Bengal Central School Service Commission conducts WBTET so as to shortlist candidates to show in schools of West Bengal. The WB TET exam is conducted as per National Council for Teachers’ Education (NCTE) guidelines. West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test (WB TET) comprises 150 multiple choice questions which candidates must attempt in 90 minutes duration. WBTET comprises of two papers. Paper-I is to run by candidates who want to show Classes I-V and Paper II is for Upper Primary Teachers. Candidates are selected to fill vacancies for teaching posts in state as per the below mentioned criteria

WB TET Eligibility 2020

The eligibility criteria for WB TET is as mentioned below:

WBTET 2020 Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teachers (Class I to V)

The applicants must fulfill the following minimum eligibility conditions as prescribed by NCTE from time to time to be eligible to appear for WB TET exam:

  • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent 10+2) with at least 50% marks and 2 year diploma in Elementary Education (DEIEd)

Or

  • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent 10+2) with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEIEd)

Or

  • Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent 10+2) with at least 50% marks and having Diploma in Education (Special Education), recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)

Or

  • Graduation and two year Diploma in Elementary Education (DEIEd)

Note: 5% relaxation of marks in Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination 10+2 (ie 45%) will be allowed for the SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PH, Exempted Category, ex-serviceman and DH (Death-in-harness) category candidates. 

WBTET 2020 Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teachers (Class VI to VIII)

Candidates are eligible to appear for WB TET exam if they have:

  • Cleared their BSc/BA or equivalent education
  • Cleared their BEd/Secondary education exam with minimum 50% marks
  • Qualified the final four years Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEIEd)
  • Appearing in final two years BSc/ BA/ Diploma in Education and clear the exam with atleast 45% marks

WB TET Selection Process

Step 1: Fill WB TET Application Form

Candidates need to fill WB TET application form on the official website of the teacher eligibility test. After duly filling the application form WB TET exam, aspirants need to take a print out of their application form.

Step 2: Download WBTET Admit Card

Candidates need to download their WB TET admit card from the official website of School Service Commission, West Bengal. WB TET admit card contains the aspirant’s name, photograph, signature, roll number and test centre details.

Step 3: Appear for WB TET Exam

On the exam day aspirants need to reach their test centre well in advance. WB TET exam comprises of 150 multiple choice objective type questions which aspirants need to attempt in the allotted time duration.

Step 4: Check WBTET Result

Candidates can view their result for WB TET exam on the official website of the test. To check their WBTET result aspirants need to fill their roll number and date of the birth on the exam’s official website.
